Price

On yearly billing they cost the same, $144 a year. Month to month, Typeless is twice the price at $30. Wispr Flow's free plan is clearer about its limit, 2,000 words a week on desktop. Typeless says its free plan has limited words each week with standard accuracy, and Pro unlocks enhanced accuracy and priority access at busy times. Wispr also offers students three free months and then 50% off.

Features

Typeless leans into AI editing. It catches it when you change your mind mid-sentence and keeps your final version, formats spoken lists, translates into another language as you speak, rewrites selected text when you tell it to, and answers questions about text you highlight, even in read-only pages.

Wispr Flow leans into breadth. It adds a Notetaker that records meetings on Mac and Windows without a bot, and it has the deeper set of team and compliance features, including SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification, SSO, SCIM, audit logs, and HIPAA with a signed BAA.

Privacy

Both are cloud apps. Wispr says audio is sent to its servers over TLS, transcribed, and deleted after transcription unless you turn on cloud storage. Typeless says audio and on-screen context are processed in real time on its cloud servers and discarded once the result is returned, with nothing stored unless you enable history cloud sync, and that it may share data with third-party AI providers to deliver some features. Both keep your history on your device by default.

A local alternative: SpeechBee

If what you want is the opposite of both, here is our pitch, with the facts on our homepage. SpeechBee transcribes on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. Audio is never uploaded or recorded, and dictation works offline after a one-time model download.

Most people read faster than they speak. SpeechBee reads the sentence you selected out loud, while you keep working.

SpeechBee's Read Aloud player on Mac
Select text, press your reading key, listen.

It removes filler words and applies formatting commands but keeps your own wording rather than rewriting it. It also reads selected text aloud with natural local voices, which neither Wispr Flow nor Typeless does. It costs $79 a year or $99 once, with 7 days free. It has no Windows, Linux or Android app, and no team plan. More detail in Typeless vs SpeechBee.
