What the free plan really gets you

The core: unlimited dictation with local AI models on Mac, Windows or Linux, in 100+ languages, with a custom dictionary. On top, you get a small cloud allowance, 2,000 words a week, and 5 hours of meeting recordings with speaker labels each month. If you bring your own API keys, cloud transcription with them is unlimited too.

What Pro and Business add

Pro is for people who want OpenWhispr's own cloud without limits, plus the extras that make it a workspace: Agent mode, sync across devices, personal API and MCP access for other apps, the iPhone and iPad app, and 20 meeting hours a month. Business is for heavy meeting users and teams, with unlimited recordings and chat over everything you have captured.

A focused Apple option

SpeechBee is the app we make. It does less than OpenWhispr on purpose: hold a key, talk, and your words appear at the cursor in any app on your Mac, iPhone or iPad, transcribed on your device. It adds Read Aloud, so you can select text and hear it in a natural local voice, and it removes filler words like "um" in 61 languages on Mac without any AI setup. It does not record meetings, run on Windows or Linux, or offer an API.

It costs $9 a month, $79 a year or $99 once, with the first 7 days free, and one plan covers Mac, iPhone and iPad.

What it costs over timeOver three years, OpenWhispr Pro costs $240 on yearly billing. SpeechBee costs $99 once; OpenWhispr's local dictation stays free.
