What the free plan really gets you
Free is a taste rather than a plan: 1,000 words in total with the same Avalon model the paid plans use. That is a few emails or a page of notes, enough to judge whether Aqua is fast and accurate for you, not enough to work with.
Pro, Max or Business?
Pro is the plan for most individuals: unlimited words, custom instructions that tell Aqua how to format your text, and a bigger custom dictionary.
Max adds Realtime Mode, which shows words on screen as you speak instead of after you stop, and a "Send it" voice command, popular with people who talk to chat apps and coding agents.
Business adds team admin, SSO and SCIM, shared dictionaries, reporting and zero data retention. For more than 20 users, Aqua offers volume pricing.
Aqua is SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certified. If you work with health data, it asks you to contact it about which plans are covered by a BAA.
Monthly or yearly?
- $120
- $96

- $79
Monthly Pro adds up to $120 a year; yearly billing brings it to $96. Students who sign up with a school address pay $36 a year for Pro, and Aqua accepts .edu and international academic domains such as .ac.uk and .ac.jp.
An on-device option
SpeechBee is the app we make. Hold a key, talk, and your words appear at the cursor in any app, with filler words removed, names corrected from your dictionary and snippets expanded. Recognition runs on your device after a one-time download, so it works offline and your voice is never uploaded. SpeechBee never reads your screen. Select text, and it reads that text aloud with a natural local voice.
It costs $9 a month, $79 a year or $99 once, with the first 7 days free, and one plan covers Mac, iPhone and iPad. It has no live word-by-word mode; text is inserted when you release the key. It does not run on Windows or Android, which Aqua does.
