# Wispr Flow vs Willow

These two are closer than any other pair of dictation apps. Both transcribe in the cloud, both charge $15 a month or $144 a year for Pro, and both sell to teams. The differences are in the free plan, Android, and how each handles your data by default.

> ### The short answer
>
> - **Pick Wispr Flow** if you dictate on Android, want a meeting notetaker, or your team wants SSO at a lower price per seat.
> - **Pick Willow** if you want a free plan with no word cap, AI writing from short prompts with Scribe, and Privacy Mode switched on from the start.
> - **Pick neither** if you want dictation that never leaves your device, plus text read aloud. That is [SpeechBee](#a-third-option-speechbee), which we make.

## Price: the same for one person

Pro costs the same on both: $15 a month, or $144 a year. For one person, price will not decide this.

The free plans are where they differ. Wispr Flow's free plan gives you the full product with a weekly cap of 2,000 words on desktop and 1,000 on mobile. Willow's Basic plan has no word cap, but it uses Willow's smaller, weaker model and limits Scribe to 20 uses a week. If you dictate a lot and can live with a lighter model, Willow's free plan goes further. If you want the best model and dictate less, Wispr Flow's is better.

Teams are a different story. Wispr Flow's Growth plan, which adds SSO, is $23 per user a month or $18 on yearly billing. Willow's Business plan is $35 per user a month or $28 yearly, and SSO comes with its Enterprise plan, priced on request.

## Privacy: both are cloud apps

Both send your audio to their servers to transcribe it. What they keep afterwards differs.

Wispr Flow deletes your audio after transcription unless you turn on cloud storage, and lets you opt out of model training. Willow keeps Privacy Mode on by default, which means no audio, transcripts or edits are kept from your dictation. If you turn it off, Willow may use limited dictation data to improve the product. Willow also lists an offline mode for when you have no connection.

## Everyday feel

Wispr Flow is known for working well the moment you install it. You hold the key, talk, and it tidies your words as it types them.

Willow leans further into AI writing. Scribe turns a short spoken instruction into a full message, and Pro learns your writing style over time. If you mostly want your own words typed out, both do that. If you want the app to write for you, Willow goes further.

## Which one should you pick?

Choose **Wispr Flow** if:

- You use an Android phone.
- You want meeting notes without a bot joining the call.
- Your free use fits in 2,000 words a week.
- You are buying seats for a team that needs SSO.

Choose **Willow** if:

- You want a free plan with no word cap.
- You want Privacy Mode on without changing a setting.
- You want the app to draft whole messages from a short prompt.

## A third option: SpeechBee

SpeechBee is our own app, and every fact here is on [our homepage](https://speechbee.app/). It differs from both in one way that matters: it never sends your voice anywhere. Speech is transcribed on your Mac, iPhone or iPad, so dictation keeps working with Wi-Fi off once the model has downloaded. Hold a key, talk, let go, and the text appears at the cursor with the filler words gone.

It also reads. Select text on your Mac and press a key, and a natural local voice reads it aloud. Neither Wispr Flow nor Willow does that.

SpeechBee runs on Apple silicon Macs, iPhone and iPad, not Windows or Android, and it has no team plan. It costs $9 a month, $79 a year, or $99 once, with the first 7 days free.

## Questions

### Is Willow better than Wispr Flow?

Neither is better for everyone. They cost the same. Willow has an uncapped free plan, Privacy Mode on by default and stronger AI writing. Wispr Flow runs on Android and has a meeting notetaker.

### Is Willow cheaper than Wispr Flow?

Not for Pro: both are $15 a month or $144 a year. Willow's free plan has no word cap, while Wispr Flow's free plan stops at 2,000 words a week on desktop.

### Do Wispr Flow and Willow work offline?

Wispr Flow does not. Willow lists an offline mode, but its normal processing is in the cloud. SpeechBee transcribes on your device and works offline after a one-time model download.

### Does Willow work on Android?

Not yet. Willow lists Android as coming soon. Wispr Flow has an Android app.

### Which is more private, Wispr Flow or Willow?

Both process speech in the cloud. Willow keeps nothing from your dictation by default because Privacy Mode is on. Wispr Flow deletes audio after transcription unless you enable cloud storage. For audio that never leaves your device, you need an on-device app.
