## Which reads better?

We haven't tested voice quality side by side, so we won't rank them. ElevenLabs is known for its voice technology, and Speechify offers more than 1,000 voices in over 60 languages. Both have free plans, so listen to each with your own text.

## On a Mac

Speechify has a native Mac app. ElevenReader on a Mac works through the web and its Chrome extension. If you mainly want to hear your own drafts and emails in any Mac app, macOS Speak selection is free, and SpeechBee, which we make, reads selected text in any app with natural voices that run on your Mac, plus dictation, for $79 a year or $99 once. It doesn't import books or scan pages.
